FY2016 Substance Abuse Service Expansion

On July 30th, 2015 HRSA announced a new funding opportunity: FY2016 Substance Abuse Service Expansion (HRSA-16-074). You can read the official release, here. In summary, about $100 million in competitive funding will be awarded to 300 existing health centers to improve and expand the delivery of substance use disorder services, with a focus on medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.

Up to $325,000 will be awarded over a two-year project period. Grantees are expected to increase access to substance abuse services, documented in patient and visit increase. Dollars should be used to employ 1.0 FTE substance abuse provider. Also, $25,000 is allowed in equipment purchases. Application materials are located here.

This will be a highly competitive application with quick turnaround. Grants.gov applications are due September 28,2015 and the full deliverable is due in the EHB by October 14, 2015.
